Hi there! Besides being a cat endowed with special powers, I’m a newspaper copy editor and freelance journalist. I’m a lover of life, good food, 1970s disco and worldly beauty in all its incarnations. My name is Cassandra, by the way. What is Marshmallowfication, you ask? It’s a word I made up that means the process by which something or someone becomes softer and more squeezable over time. As in, me. Speaking of me, I transitioned to female, with the journey officially getting under way in October 2007. I’ve achieved true happiness, finally.

What I’m up to lately
Working on a book outline and planning to propose my idea to Seal Press.

Some of my likes
* People who are unafraid to be individuals.
* Classical, eletronica, tribal/world music and ’80s-era Madonna. But first and foremost, 1970s disco.
* As far as books, I like philosophy, psychology and cultural studies. Also big on feminism.
* I love playing the drums! Hoping to get myself a drum set one day soon. I’ve been away from it for too long.
* When I do watch the boob tube, it’s usually vintage shows, like Charlie’s Angels, Columbo, Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie.
* I like lots of oldies but goodies as far as movies, too. I am specifically fond of classic horror.
* Pasta, pizza, Mexican and seafood top my list as far as eats.

Random stuff you might not know about me
* I keep my house neat and uncluttered.
* I first wore makeup in my pre-teens. When no one was home, I took my sister’s foundation and lipstick and put some on. I was blown away by what I saw in the mirror. It was an unforgettable experience. The rest is history.
* I used to be embarrassed about my height (5-5), particularly through elementary and high school. But now I think it rocks.
* I love the taste of white rice and soy sauce, with a dash of Italian salad dressing. Can’t get enough.
* I wish I could travel back in time to ancient Egypt. I love what women wore back then, including the style of makeup.

My dream
* Scenario One: I hope to one day be able to live in a primitive structure on a Hawaiian island, spending my days bikini-clad and alternating between going barefoot and wearing sandals. A bed, the sand and water, a hammock and a soul mate or two.
* Scenario Two: Stay home and take care of the house while my partner earns a living.
